John W. Randolph (1802-1848) married Mary Ann Reavis in Yancey County, North Carolina, and they settled in Maury County, Tennessee. They moved to Pope County, Illinois about 1846. Descendants lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Georgia and elsewhere. American ancestry lived chiefly in Virginia and North Carolina. European ancestry lived chiefly in France and England.

The Bohun family was part of the English nobility (the Earldom of Hereford & Essex) from the time of William the Conqueror. Descendants lived in Norfolk County and throughout England, and some descendants and relatives immigrated in 1630 to New England and were direct ancestors of the author.
