Description
John Bowles (1592-1664) emigrated from England to Virginia in the early 1600s. He was on board one of the three ships that brought supplies to Jamestown, Virginia, in May 1610, saving the colony from starvation. William A. Massey (1770/1780-about 1849) was born in South Carolina. He married Elizabeth (1791-1860/1870) of Virginia, and moved to Tennessee by 1814. He died in Humphreys County, Tennessee, before 1849.

Abel Waters, son of Nathaniel and Mary Waters, was born 25 January 1749 in Sutton Massachusetts. He married Sara Learned Davis, daughter of Elijah and Dorothy Moore, 15 January 1783. They subsequently settled in Charlton, Massachusetts. They were the parents of five children. Abel died 7 February 1829 in Augusta, Maine.

Perleman Carroll Bowles (1816-1878), son of Charles Bowles, was born in Maury County, Tennessee. He married Kitty Dobbs of Noxubee County, Mississippi in 1838, and they settled in Choctaw County, Mississippi in 1841. Kitty was the daughter of Silas Dobbs. She was born in 1822 in Pickens County, Alabama. Descendants lived in Mississippi, Texas, and elsewhere.
