William Henry Bragg was born in 1862 near Wigton in Cumberland, England. He went to Adelaide, Australia in 1886. He married Gwendoline Todd in 1889. The family returned to England in 1909. He and his eldest son, William Lawrence, were awarded the 1915 Nobel Prize for Physics. Information chiefly concerns the years in Australia (1886-1909).
