Lorenz Brand was born in 1707 in Rosenthal, Germany. He married Anna Margaretha about 1740. Lorenz died in 1760 in Rosenthal, Germany. Immigrant ancestor, Johannes Brandt, left Rosenthal in 1847 with four small children for America after his third wife, Hermie Holland, died. They left Baltimore, Maryland and homesteaded in New Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania.

Christian Ludwig Brandt Yde was born 3 Dec. 1847 in Aalborg, Denmark, the son of Nikklaci Yde and his wife, Ellen Maria Frederickson. Adam Linn served as a sergeant in the Pennsylvania line during the Revolutionary War. After the war he lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Guernsey County, Ohio. He married Ann Hefley in 1780. They had five children. He died in 1834 in Guernsey County.
