Thomas Briggs was born 2 August 1832 in Newark, Nottinghamshire, England and was the son of James Briggs and Ann Ordoyne. He was baptized a member of the LDS Church 27 Janurary 1849 and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1851. Thomas married Ann Kirkham 27 March 1853 in St. Louis, Missouri and in 1862 they began their westward movement to Utah. Thomas likely died in Utah sometime after the year 1909.

John Briggs was living at Newport, Rhode Island, in 1638, when he was admitted a freeman. In his will, written and probated in 1690, he named five sons and a daughter. Descendants listed, chiefly descendants of his descendant of the fifth generation, Walter Briggs (1701-ca. 1783) of Westchester, New York, lived in Rhode Island, New York, and elsewhere.
Includes the Hunt, Valentine, and other related families.

Description
Francis Briggs (1715-1765), a Baptist minister, moved to Pemberton, Burlington County, New Jersey, in 1850. He and his wife, Rachel, had at least four children. Their son, Job, and his wife, Hannah Fisher, moved to Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, and elsewhere.
Includes other early Briggs families in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
