The earliest known ancestor, Henry Broadt/Bright (ca. 1772-1838), arrived in western Pennsylvania ca. 1797 presumably from Bedford, Pa. James Parks married Elizabeth Davis ca. 1802. Their first child, David, was born February 26, 1803 in Franklin Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. By 1818, the couple had moved to Belmont County, Ohio. The couple had 8 children, all of whom settled in Ohio. Elizabeth died sometime before 1860. James died in 1861.

Victor Emanuel Weyher (1847-1930) immigrated from Austria to New York City about 1869, worked in Baltimore, Maryland for two years, and then settled in Kinston, North Carolina in 1871 and married Rachel Parrott. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Virginia, New York and elsewhere.

William Armstrong (1799-1869) was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He married Rachel Bright in 1821 and Nancy Craighead Brown in 1844. He moved to Miami County, Ohio in 1825 and to Carroll County, Indiana by 1832. Descendants and relatives lived in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, California and elsewhere.

Zadock Barnett lived in Pittsylvania County, Virginia and later was in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. He was also in Morgan County, Georgia where he died in 1823. Descendants lived in Georgia, Alabama, and elsewhere. Smith line is traced to Isaac A. Smith (1832-1908), son of Stephen and Nancy Smith of Fayette County, Alabama. He married Rachel Catherine Pennington in 1851. Both are buried in Franklin County, Alabama.

Joseph Eves was born 5 December 1814 in Millville, Pennsylvania. His parents were Andrew Eves and Martha Masters. He married Sarah Jane Melick (1825-1896), daughter of Daniel Melick and Mary Magdaline Weller, in 1847. They had ten children. He died in 1887 in Weeksville, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, Utah, Idaho and California.

Lenard Holliday Shumway, son of Hyrum Brooks Shumway and Rosa Bell Holladay, was born in 1908 near Byron, Wyoming. He married Edith Ready, daughter of Jesse Foster Ready and Vola Bell Dockery, in 1932. They had nine children.
