John Garretson, probably of Dutch lineage and possible an immigrant, lived in New Castle, Delaware before 1657. Descendants lived in Delaware, Pennsylvania and elsewhere. William Evans (1777-1816) was married in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in 1797, to Parthenia Hill. She was born 29 May 1773 in Eastern New Jersey Colony, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Richison/Richardson) Hill.
