Rem Jansen Vanderbeeck (d. 1681) was born probably in the Netherlands. He came to America from Javeren, Oldenburg, in Westphalia (by another account from Coeverden in Oversyssel, Holland) in 1642. Soon after his arrival he married Jannetje de Rapalje (1629-1699), the daughter of Joris Jansen de Rapalje and Catalyntje Trico, and they settled in New York. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and elsewhere.
