Alexander Hill (b.1779) was a son of Daniel and Mary Hill, born in Skipness, Argyllshire, Scotland. He was a sailor in his younger years, and married Elizabeth Currie in 1806. In 1821 they immigrated to Lanark Township, Bathurst District (probably in New Brunswick) and in 1833 moved to Tossoronto Township, Simcoe County, Ontario. Edward Bosworth (d.1634), his wife, Mary, and their family immigrated in 1634 from England to Boston, Massachusetts.
