Hyrum Chauncey Gardner, son of Joseph Smith Gardner and Mary Elizabeth Williams, was born 25 March 1874 in Deweyville, Utah. He married Mary Ellen Marshall (1877-1895), daughter of John Marshall, Jr. and Christina Burt, in 1895. They had ten children. He died in 1966 in Liberty, Utah.

Shadrach Hapgood (1642?-1675) emigrated in 1656 from England to Sudbury, Massachusetts. He emigrated as a youngster accompanying his uncle, Peter Noyes, and in 1664 he married Elizabeth Treadway. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Ohio, Kansas, California and elsewhere.

John Abbe (ca. 1613-1689/90) immigrated to America in 1635. He and his wife, Mary [Loring?] (ca. 1615-1672) had seven children. Mary died at Wenham, Massachusetts. He married 2) Mrs. Mary Goldsmigh, widow of Richard Goldsmith, in 1674. John Abbe died at Salem, Massachusetts. Descendants listed lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and elsewhere. The surname is spelled Abbe, Abbey, Abby, and Abbay.
