Balser Bortner (ca. 1698-ca. 1747) came to Pennsylvania in 1732. He and his wife, Maria Elisabetha, lived in Tulpehocken Settlement in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and elsewhere. Some descendants changed name to "Burtner" and "Bordner".

Joshua Foracre (ca. 1787-18680 was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, probably the son of William Foracre. In approximately 1815/1816 he married Mary Smith. Their third child, Joseph (1820-1904), was born in Morgan County, Ohio. In 1842 he married Mary Ann Burgoon (1820-1903) in Hocking County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived in Ohio, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.
