Collection of material and family group sheets on various Custer and Custard families who lived in colonial America and their descendants. Many of these individuals were sets of brothers who had the same parents but no other relationships are given. Each volume includes the descendants of an individual born between 1700 and 1800 in one of the colonies. Descendants gradually moved west and now live throughout the United States.

Isaiah Cain (d. 1812) was born in the state of New York. He was a loyalist in the American Revolution and settled in what became Leeds County, Ontario. He received a 200-acre Crown land grant in the area in 1789 "thus founding the hamlet of Caintown." Primarily traces his descendants. Includes a few "unconnected" Cain/Kane families from Ontario. .

Edward and Amanda Cain and family came to Oregon by ox team from Illinois in 1864 and lived for awhile in Yamhill County. They moved to Walla, Washington in 1865 and then came back to Oregon. In 1869 they settled at Fall Creek, Oregon.

Margaret Kemmethmueller, daughter of Ferdinand Josef Kemmethmueller and Margaretha Weigle, was born in 1911 in Munich, Germany. She emigrated in 1928. She married Willard Craig Cain in 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had five children. She died in 2001 in Orem lUtah.

John William Cain of Castletown, Isle of Man, was baptized in 1808, son of William Cain and Elenor Clague. He was married to Ann Mylchreest (died 1867) of Ballamoda, Isle of Man who was also baptized in 1808. She was the daughter of John Mylchreest (died 1837) and Elizabeth Stephen (1786-1858). James MacCain (d.1796), son of Scotsman Donald MacCain (who had immigrated to Ireland), immigrated with his family from Ireland to Perth Amboy, New Jersey in 1738, and settled in Barnard Township, Somerset County, New Jersey.
