Jared Canfield (1789-1870), son of Dennis Canfield, was born in Danby, Vermont. He migrated to Erie County, New York in about 1809 or 1810. He lived there until 1852 at which time he moved to Milan, Ohio. He was married three times: 1. Sarah King; 2. Phoebe Dart; 3. Catherine Sly. He had sixteen children. David Canfield (1777-1858) was born in Connecticut. He married Hannah Northrup (1779-1819) in 1796 in South Salem, New York, He died in Youngstown, New York. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York and Michigan.

Sherman Fletcher Canfield (1864-1911), a son of Fletcher Mose Canfield and Marcia Melissa Fisher, was born in Wisconsin. He married Ida Mae Hopping (1869-1947), a daughter of Thomas T. Hopping and Amy M. Martin, in 1888. They had six children. Many descendants live in Kansas, Colorado, Oregon, and surrounding states.
