The Carlin Ward was organized in 1937 as a unit of the Nevada Stake. From 1923-1937, the ward was known as the Carlin Branch of the California Mission.

Robert Easley (b.ca.1655), possibly of French Huguenot lineage, was born in England and married Ann Parker in 1678. They immigrated by 1680 to Henrico County, Virginia. John Kulhavy (1826-1913) emigrated from Czechoslovakia to America and changed the name Kulhavy to Lane. He was married to Rosalie Kruzan (1828-1869). Both are buried in Mt.
