Claude Gourgon (b.ca1695) had emigrated to New France by 1723. His origin in France and parentage are unknown. He purchased land from Sr. Gravelle and his wife Marie Doyon in 1728. He married Marguerite Maisonneuve, daughter of Pierre Maisonneuve and Anne Grenier in 1728. They were the parents of twelve children. Symphorien Caillavet (1746-1806) was a son of Joseph de Caillavet and Marie Tourat. He became an officer in the French army, and was sent to the French colony of St. Domingue (later Haiti) in the Caribbean. He returned to France for a short time in the 1780s, immigrated to New Orleans, Louisiana, and married twice (once in St. Domingue).
