The earliest known ancestor of Thomas Halsey alias Chambers (1593-1678) of Southampton, New York was John Halsey alias Chambers (1498-1559 of Dunstable, Bedfordshire. He was the father of Thomas Halsey alias Chambers (1522-1601) who moved to Hertfordshire. He was the father of Robert Halsey alias Chambers (1552-1610) who married Ellen Alley alias Cooke. They were the parents of Thomas who immigrated to America and settled in New York.

William Ames immigrated in 1635 to Braintree, Massachusetts. Descendants lived in most of the United States.

Merold Sanford Briggs was born 24 March 1915 in Hay Springs, Sheridan, Nebraska. His parents were Roy Vivian Briggs (1893-1972) and Grace Leora Clark (1888-1973). He married Mary Frances Russell, daughter of George Washington Russell and Sarah Christine Six, 1 July 1950 in Raton, Colfax, New Mexico. There were no children. John Thomas Chambers, born 1760 in Virginia, married Margaret Feamster, in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, in 1786. They moved to Madison County, Kentucky, shortly after their marriage. They had six children, born in Madison and Estill Counties, Kentucky, and Jefferson County, Indiana. Descendants lived in Indiana and elsewhere. Includes the Feamster, Deckard, Meadows, Mitchell, and other related families.

Captain James Bratton, son of Captain James and Ann McFarland Dunlap Bratton of Augusta County, Virginia, was a captain of the Augusta Militia at the battle of Guilford County House in North Carolina in 1781. He and his wife, Rebecca Hogshead, had nine children. He died in Augusta County, Virginia, in 1828. Soon after his death, three of his sons and a daughter, migrated to Montgomery County, Indiana.
