Descendants of Giles Chambers (1778-1858), the son of Giles Chambers, Sr. of Stoney Stratton or Evercreech, Somersetshire, England. He was married to Jane Russell (1793-1883 in 1812 in Evercreech. They had eight children, six born in England and two in Canada. Family immigrated to Canada (Oxford Co.), in 1832. Descendants live in Canada, Michigan, Oregon and elsewhere.

The earliest known ancestor of Thomas Halsey alias Chambers (1593-1678) of Southampton, New York was John Halsey alias Chambers (1498-1559 of Dunstable, Bedfordshire. He was the father of Thomas Halsey alias Chambers (1522-1601) who moved to Hertfordshire. He was the father of Robert Halsey alias Chambers (1552-1610) who married Ellen Alley alias Cooke. They were the parents of Thomas who immigrated to America and settled in New York.

John Thomas Chambers, born 1760 in Virginia, married Margaret Feamster, in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, in 1786. They moved to Madison County, Kentucky, shortly after their marriage. They had six children, born in Madison and Estill Counties, Kentucky, and Jefferson County, Indiana. Descendants lived in Indiana and elsewhere.

Captain James Bratton, son of Captain James and Ann McFarland Dunlap Bratton of Augusta County, Virginia, was a captain of the Augusta Militia at the battle of Guilford County House in North Carolina in 1781. James Bursell was born in 1774 in England. He married Hannah Stokes in 1798 and they had ten children. Although some of their children immigrated earlier, James and Hannah and the rest of the family immigrated to Canada in 1830. He died in 1854 while Hannah died in 1849, both in Canada. Descendants have lived in Canada, Minnesota, Oregon, California, Texas, Washington, and elsewhere.
