John Kersey (formerly Carsaye) came to America from Ayreshire, Scotland in 1650. It is thought he married an Irish girl named Joanna Beasely. He first settled in Rhode Island where Roger Williams established a colony, and later in Pennsylvania with William Penn. He then migrated to Guilford Co., North Carolina.
