Anthony Chamness, son of John and Ann Chamness, was born at London, England, in 1713. He came to America ca. 1725. He married Susanna Cole, daughter of Joseph and Susanna Cole, in Baltimore County, Maryland, ca. 1736. They had thirteen children, ca. 1737- 1761, born in Baltimore and Frederick Counties, Maryland, and Orange County, North Carolina. He died in 1777. They had thirteen children, 1737- 1764, born in Baltimore and Frederick Counties, Maryland, and Orange and Chatham Counties, North Carolina. He died in 1777 in Chatham County, North Carolina. Descendants listed lived in North Carolina, Kansas, and elsewhere.

Jesse Chamness (1809-1892), son of William and Isabel Beeson Chamness was born in Randolph County, North Carolina. Ruth Woody (1814-1882), daughter of Hugh and Mary Adkin Woody, was born in Chatham County, North Carolina. They were married at the Cane Creek Meeting, North Carolina, in 1831. They had four children, 1838-1848. Children were married at the Nettle Creek Meeting, Indiana.
