David Johnston (1797-1879) was born in Wythe County, Virginia and moved to Grayson County, Kentucky where he married Sarah Day (1801-1865) in 1822. Sarah was the daughter of Joseph Day (1768-1852) and Margaret Brooks and was descended from early settlers of Virginia and Pennsylvania. David and Sarah were the parents of nine children. Descendants live in illinois, Kansas and other parts of the United States.

The Chenoweth family originated in Wales but lived for centuries in Cornwall, England. The family originally carried the name Trevelisek but changed their name between 890 and 1020 when one of the sons was given land and built a new house. Cornish for "new house" is Chynoweth. Dr. Joseph Bondurant and his wife, Elizabeth Ann Chastain Bondurant, daughter of John Francis and Frances Jane Regnault Chastain, were French Huegnots, and immigrated to Virginia, where he died ca. 1669. Their son, John Peter (Jean Pierre) Bondurant, his wife, Anna L'Orange Faure (Ford), had five children. The family fled France and immigrated to Virginia in 1700. Joseph Vick (d.ca.1702/1703) immigrated (probably from the Isle of Wight off the southern shore of England) to Isle of Wight County, Virginia about 1674. Joseph married three times. Jacob Barger (1769-1822) was the second child of Philip Barger (1741-1803) and Eve Clements, and probably the grandson of Philip Barger or Barriger (who was killed in the Drapers Meadow Indian massacre in 1755). Jacob married Sue Barger, a second cousin, and moved from Blacksburg, Virginia to New Hope, Virginia, and about 1808 to land near Piketon, Pike County, Ohio. Descendants lived in New York, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and elsewhere.
