The Cherokee Constitution once specified members of the tribe had to live within the borders of the Cherokee Nation in order to qualify for citizenship. Lucinda Morgan married Charles Fleetwood, who was not Indian. She and her children lived outside the Cherokee Nation while Fleetwood was in the Army in Kansas. When the family returned to the Delaware District of the Chorkee Nation and applied for citizenship, their claim was rejected several times....

Robert Giles Henson was born in 1822 in Tennessee or North Carolina. His mother was Mary Dilday Henson and his father's name may have been Terrel "The Beaver" Henson. Family tradition is that the father and possibly the mother were Cherokee Indian. This volume is a compilation of the author's research to prove the family connections.

Description
James Taylor Adams collected material on various Adams/Addams/Addoms/ Adamson and connected families throughout the United States. Most of the material was collected between 1921 and 1954. Many of the families were from Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He also collected material for a history of the first settlers of Wise County, Virginia, so some of the families have ties to Wise County.

James Starr, Sr. was born in 1796 in Cherokee Nation East, Tennessee. His parents were Caleb Starr (ca. 1758-1843) and Nancy Harlan. He married Susie "Sukie" Maugh, daughter of Willioki Maw and Ooloocha, in about 1818. They had eight children. James died 9 November 1845 in Goingsnake District, Cherokee Nation West. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Tennessee and Oklahoma.
