Julia King, daughter of James King and Lucinda White (died 1878), was born near Lake Creek, in southern Illinois in 1864. She married John Childers (died 1921) in 1885. Their son, Henry, married Fanny Pearl Gibbs who was born in Illinois in 1893. Her first marriage had been to Ray Baxley.

Robert Childers, son of Henry and Susannah (Goolsby), was born in Amherst County, Virginia about 1762. He married Nancy Pryor. Another branch descends from Joseph and Mary Childers, also of Amherst County, Virginia. Joseph died in 1798. James W. Childers (b. ca. 1777, d. in the 1860's) migrated from South Carolina to Iredell Co., North Carolina. He and his wife, Margaret Munday (b. 1780), daughter of William Munday, had at least four sons, ca. 1805-1818. The book chiefly lists descendants of their third son, William Riley Childers (b. 1815), who married Zelphia C. King (b. 1814).
