Joseph P. Jones (1807-1877), son of Joseph and Ruth Peaslee Jones and grandson of Jacob and Ruth Jones of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, married Mary D. Davis (1812-1902) in 1830. They had ten children, 1831-1850. Descendants listed, to ca. 1915, lived in New Hampshire, Vermont and elsewhere.

Rulon E. Porter was born in Arizona in 1882. His parents were early Latter-day Saint settlers in Arizona. He married twice, to Nellie E. Knight and after her death, to Ethel Elizabeth Williams. He had one daughter and three grandchildren. His history of the Latter-day Saint communities in Arizona, his ancestry and that of his wives, as well as his own account of his personal history is given in this volume.
