John Furnas (1736-1777) was born in Cumberland, England. He married Mary Wilkinson (1742-1782) in 1762. They immigrated to South Carolina in 1763 and settled in Bush Harbor. Descendants and relatives lived in Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere.

Johann Jacob Jenne was born 7 September 1772 in Boetzingen, Freiburg, Baden, Germany. His parents were Tobias Jenne and Jacobea Gruninn. He married Anna Katharina Steinin (1782-1875) 2 March 1801. They had twelve children. Johann died 16 September 1875 in Westerville, Indiana. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Most descendants spell their name Yaney.

Aaron Coppock II (1797-1849) was a descendant of English immigrant Aaron Coppock I (1666-1726), and the son of Samuel Coppock and Ellen Sidwell. He was probably born in Pennsylvania, and moved with his parents and family to Ohio about 1808. He married twice, and had descendants by both marriages. John Coppocke married Joane Wilkinson in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England in 1605/6. One descendant, Mary Coppock (1744-1833) married Marmaduke Coate (1738-1822). Many descendants were Quakers and lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North and South Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas, and elsewhere.

The author and other Herb researches believe that Johann Herb of Frederick Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania is the progenitor of the members of the Herb family listed in this book. Johann was born ca. 1695-1700 and died prior to 1751. Researchers believe he was father of seven children born ca. 1719-1735. The surname is spelled Herb, Harp, and Harb.
