Chiefly, a record of descendants of Hugh Cochran who was born near Glasgow, Scotland on April 1, 1760. He migrated to Ohio in 1781. Hugh married first Mary McCarthy in 1785. Mary died in 1800. Hugh married second Rebecca Coughraine. Rebecca died in 1825 in Ohio. Hugh had several children with each wife.

The Cochran family originally from Scotland. The forefather of this family was William Cochran born 1710 in Scotland. He was a stowaway on his uncle's ship when he came to America in 1726. He settled first near Richmond, Va. and later moved to Mecklenburg, N.C. .

Description
John Cochran, the first to settle in Ireland, came from Fernois two miles eastward from Paisley in Scotland. He had three sons: Hugh, John, and James. He settled first at Griblon near Londonderry. John Cochran lived during the late 1500's.
