Family history of Martha Coley (1794-1852), the daughter of Joseph Coley of London, England and his wife, Mary Willis. She was born in Johnstown, Fulton Co., N.Y. She married Calvin Goodell (1783-1863) ca. 1807 in Cazenovia, N.Y. They were parents of eleven children. Samuel Whatley was born in 1762 in Graville County, North Carolina, the son of William and Mary Edwards Whatley. His family migrated to Wilkes County, Georgia, ca. 1775. He served as a private in the Revolutionary War. He married Catharine Anglin (1762-1857) orphaned daughter of James Anglin, in 1782. They had eleven children, ca. 1783-ca. 1808. He died in Wilkes County, in 1826. Descendants lived in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and elsewhere.

Stephen Collis Jones (1859-1939), a son of John Judson Jones and Nancy Hamrick, was born in North Carolina. He married Eunice Wilson Jones (1854-1924), a daughter of Wilson McKinney Jones and Lucinda Gold, in 1878. They had seven children. Descendants live in North Carolina.

Johannes Schimmel/Schemell/Shamel (b. 1712) immigrated from Austria and settled in Pennsylvania about 1738. He married Anna Margaretha Geiger (1722-1803). Their son, Johannes (1746-1813), who was born in Oley, Pennsylvania; married Elizabeth Holder in 1777, in North Carolina. Descendants lived also in Ohio, Oregon and elsewhere.
