Claes Severtszen Smit (b.ca.1635) emigrated from The Netherlands to land in the Mill Neck near Milford, Connecticut during or before 1662, receiving a land grant as Nicholas Seversmith, a Dutchman (an adaptation of the Dutch name to English terms).
