Peter Conrad, born ca. 1710-1720 in Prussia (now Germany), emigrated to America ca. 1750 with his two sons, Jacob and Rudolph. He originally settled in Pennsylvania but later moved to North Carolina. He died ca. 1790-1800 in North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Missouri and elsewhere.

Robert Ellis, a Friend, emigrated from Wales to Pennsylvania in 1690, with his wife, Ellen, and seven children. As the children grew to maturity, they followed the Welsh custom of the time and took the first name of their father as their surname. Robert and Ellen Ellis probably died before 1701. David R. Conrad (1811-1890) married Mary Bollinger in 1833. John C. Conrad (b.1842), one of their sons, was born in Bollinger County, Missouri, and served with federal troops during the Civil War. He married Medora Nugent in 1868, and they later moved to Custer County, Oklahoma. Descendants and relatives of David and of his son John lived in Missouri, Oklahoma and elsewhere.

Henry Biedebach married Sophia Conrad 11 January 1882 in Pasadena, California. They had eleven children. Sophia's father was Friedrich Wilhelm Conrad. Her step-father was surnamed Brenner. The Biedebach, Conrad and Brenner families were early pioneers of Pasadena.
