Ancestry of Burton Craige (1811-1875), who was born near Salisbury in Rowan County, North Carolina, and married Elizabeth Phifer Erwin in 1836. William Craige was born in Scotland or Ireland between 1690 and 1700. He married Margaret Logan, widow of George Long. They had 5 children. The family immigrated to the United States about 1741 and settled in Orange County, North Carolina. There is no record of William or Margaret's death. Their descendants lived mostly in North Carolina.
