James Maxwell was born in 1777 in Ireland. He married Bethia Gale (1786-1865), daughter of James Gale and Sarah Cranmer, 10 January 1809. They had seven children. He died 5 January 1844 in New Jersey. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New Jersey, New York and Maryland.
