Thomas Burgess Sr. (ca. 1603-1685) emigrated from England, ca. 1630 arrived at Salem, and lived for a time at Lynn, Massachusetts. He settled at Sandwich, Massachusetts, in 1637. He was the father of at least five children. Descendants listed lived in Massachusetts, Maine, New York, Ohio, Iowa, California and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Nova Scotia and elsewhere in Canada.

Widow Martha Harding (d.1633) and her son, Joseph (b.ca.1629), emigrated from England to Plymouth, Massachusetts during or before 1629. She was living there in March 1633, and died before 28 Oct/7 Nov. 1633, when inventory of her estate was made. Theodore Harding (1730-1771), a direct descendant in the fifth generation, married Martha Sears in 1756, and immigrated about 1760/1761 to Barrington, Nova Scotia. Thomas Crowell, Jr. was born in 1739 in Chatham, Massachusetts. He married Sarah Kenney, daughter of Nathan Kenney and Mercy Smith, in 1759. They had ten children. He died in about 1809 on Sherose Island, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Nova Scotia.

Heinrich Ludewig Achilles (1737/40-1834) was born in Germany. He married Dorothea Elisabeth Stützer (1742-1798), a daughter of Samuel Buchhart Stützer and Anna Catherina Koch, in 1770. They emigrated after 1733 and settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Johann died in 1774.
