Description
Samuel Bennett was born in 1741 in London. He married Mary Butterfield (1748-1775) in about 1768. They had three children. The family became Curtis-Bennetts after George Peter Bennett (1810-1891) married Charlotte Curtis (1810-1896) and their son, Henry, adopted the name. Traces descendants and relatives in London, Essex, Wiltshire and elsewhere.

Zacheus Curtis (1619?-1682) of Downton, Wilshire, England, emigrated in 1635 and lived in Salem, Reading, Gloucester, Boxford, and Topsfield, Massachusetts. His widow, Joanna, remarried to a man named Cooper. The history of their descendants extends to the eighth generation. While settling primarily in New England, other family members settled in the western states.

William Curtis, son of Thomas Curtis and Mary Camp, was baptized 12 November 1592 in Nazeing, Essex, England. He married Sarah Elliot in 1618. They had eight children.He and his family immigrated in 1632 to Roxbury, Massachusetts. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New England.
