Description
Mary Ball was born in Virginia in 1706. She married Augustin Washington, a widower with two sons, in 1730. Her oldest child, George Washington, was born in Westmoreland County. The family then moved to and estate in Stafford County, Virginia, when her other two sons and three daughters were born. She died at Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 1789.

Robert Edward Lee (1807-1870) was an American Confederate general best known for his service to the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War, during which he was appointed the overall commander of the Confederate States Army. He was born at Stratford Hall Plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia, to Henry Lee III and Anne Hill Carter Lee. He married Mary Anna Randolph Custis (1808-1873) in 1831. They had seven children.

Edmund Custis (b. ca. 1570) and his wife had seven children. Their son, John (b. 1599) married Joan Powell. One of their daughters, Ann, married Col. Argoll Yeardly, and immigrated to Virginia. Part of the family followed them later. One descendant, Daniel Park Custis (1711-1757) married Martha Dandridge. They had four children. In 1759, Martha married General George Washington.
