Joseph Cain Simmons (1815- ) was the eldest child of Mary Cain and Isaac Simmons. His first wife was Nancy Bradford. She had five children, and died in 1849. He married Levina Sprague (1815- ) in 1850. Relatives and descendants lived in Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, California and elsewhere.
