Robert Daniell and his family immigrated to American and settled at Watertown, Massachusetts before 1636. He and his wife, Elizabeth (d. 1643), had five children, 1630-1642. Elizabeth Proctor (ca. 1699-ca. 1752) was born in Surry County, Virginia, daughter of Joshua Proctor, Jr. and Katherine Owen. She married William Rowland IV ca. 1718. Proctor ancestry is traced to John Proctor, born ca. 1559 in London. Owen ancestry is traced to Richard Owen, born ca. 1560 in Berkshire, England. He married Joane Daniell in 1579/80 in Steventon Parish, Berkshire, England. Daniell ancestry is traced to the 14th century.

William Daniel (Daniell) (1743-1840) was the son of John (b.1707) and Sarah Raven. He married first, Rachel Howe (?) in N. C.; second he married Mary Melton (1770-1843) of Georgia in 1787. He was born in N. C. and died in Clarke County, Ga. He served in the Revolutionary War. He was the father of thirteen children. Several DAR lineages are given. Descendants are located in California, Georgia, Alabama and elsewhere.
