Abiah Darby ( 1716-1793 ), came to Coalbrookdale, as the wife of Abraham Darby II in 1745. Her family was involved in the manufacture of iron. She became a Quaker minister in 1748. The account is taken from Abiah's journal, partly written in her own hand.

John Darby was living at Marblehead, Massachusetts, by 1677, where he was a fisherman and owned a small cottage. He and his wife, Alice, had five children. Their second son, John Darby (1681-1753), married Deborah Conant (1687-1763), daughter of John Conant. They had eight children, 1704-1720. Abraham Darby I (1678-1717) was the son of John and Ann Bayliss Darby of Wren's Nest near Dudley, Worcestershire, England. He married Mary Sargeant (1678-1718) of Fulford Heath in 1699. They had four children. Abraham develop the first iron works at Coalbrookdale. Includes a pedigree chart of descendants family members. The Darby family were members of the Quaker faith.
Includes Ford, Reynolds and Dickinson families.
