Bernard Wintringer was probably born in Luxembourg. He emigrated in 1753 when he was twenty-one years old. He married Sarah Chatwin 6 December 1760 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They moved to Jefferson County, Ohio in about 1797. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio, Iowa and Kansas.

Nicholas Kiser (1705-ca. 1775) was born in the Palatine, Germany. He and his wife, Anna Margaret, were married in the Palatine, ca. 1725. They had five children. James Ward (1758-1848) was born in Fincastle County, Virginia. In 1803 he moved to the Kentucky side of the valley of the Big Sandy.
