Jan Jacobs Gauw (1786-1868) was the son of Jacob Gauw and Antje van Citters of Den Helder, Holland. He married Aafje Pieters Dros, the daughter of Pieter Pieters Dros and Tryntje Timmers of the Island of Texel. They later moved to Joure, Friesland where he was a schoolmaster. Joseph Stevenson (1787-1832) married Elizabeth Stevens and immigrated (after a stay at Gibraltar) in 1828 from England to Brooklyn, New York, moving later to Albany, New York and then to land near Detroit, Michigan. Pieter De Jong, Sr. was born 19 March 1808 in Arkel, The Netherlands. His parents were Jan De Jong and Maria Kooij. He married Gijsbertje Van Houwelingen (1810-1876) 1 May 1831. They had twelve children. They emigrated in 1866 with seven of their children and settled in Pella, Iowa. Pieter died in 1890. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.
