He married Elizabeth Ann (Bettie) Minton 13 Jan 1880 in Somerset, Kentucky. She was born 4 Feb 1858 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, to Abraham Price Minton and Sally Jane Weddle. Arthur Jones (1630-1692) was born in Gloucester, England and became a merchant. He moved with his family to Virginia in about 1663 and later moved to Bermuda where he died in 1692. He was the father of at least four children who settled in Virginia and Bermuda. Their descendants moved to North Carolina, Tennessee and other southern the states and presently live throughout the United States.

Alexander Shadrach Barlow was born in 1794 in Virginia to George Barlow. He married first in 1824 to Keturah Crocker who was the daughter of Joseph Johnson Crocker and Sabrah (Sarah) Adderson. She died ca. 1840 and he married next in 1843 Martha Ann Pettit. He died in 1865 in Virginia. Allied families were Crocker, Delk, Batten, Goodrich, Pittman, Womble, Reckley, and others. Coonrod Poyle or Pile (1766-1849) was born in Germany and immigrated to America after the American Revolution settling first in North Carolina and then in Tennessee by 1791. He was the father of at least eleven children. His numerous descendants live in Tennessee and throughout the United States and include such well known figures as World War II reporter Ernie Pyle and World War I hero, Sargeant Alvin C. York.
