Eliza Ann Dibble (1829-1891) was born in Chardon, Ohio to Philo Dibble, Sr. (1806-1895) and Celia Kent (1803-1840). She descended from early American pioneers on both sides of her family. Humphrey Nichols was raised in Newtown, New York in the home of his uncle, Joseph Nichols. His father was Isaac Nichols of Stratford, Connecticut. Humphrey is known to have been a perment resident of Newark, New Jersey prior to 1738. He married Abigail Wheeler, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Wheeler, of Newark, New Jersey. They were the parents of eight children. Humphrey died about 3 June 1764.
