George Deal (1826-1887), son of Joseph Diehl of German descent, moved in 1851 from Pennsylvania (via the Isthmus of Panama) to San Francisco, and settled in Siskiyou County, California. Descendants and relatives lived in California, Oregon, Nevada and elsewhere.
