Lucy Doan (1817-1870) was born in Clermont County, Ohio to William Doane (1769-1856) and Lucy Barton. They were descendants of Deacon John Doan who settled in Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts in about 1630. Lucy married William Gray (1817-1863) in 1838 and they eventually had eight children. William Crisp was born in 1794 in Lauren, Greenville, North Carolina. He married Milley Barker and they had seven children. G. W. Kirkland married Louisa in about 1831, probably in North Carolina. They had five children. Descendants James Mansfield Crisp (1880-1948) and Julia Ann Kirkland (1885-1930) married in about 1900. Daniel Ashcraft (1698-1755) was born at Stonington, Connecticut, the son of John Ashcraft (1671-1732) and grandson of John Ashcraft (ca. 1644-1680).
