Dobbs County was divided in 1791 to form Glasgow and Lenoir counties. In 1799, Glasgow County was changed to Greene County. Wayne County was formed in 1779 from part of Dobbs County.

Perleman Carroll Bowles (1816-1878), son of Charles Bowles, was born in Maury County, Tennessee. He married Kitty Dobbs of Noxubee County, Mississippi in 1838, and they settled in Choctaw County, Mississippi in 1841. Kitty was the daughter of Silas Dobbs. She was born in 1822 in Pickens County, Alabama. Descendants lived in Mississippi, Texas, and elsewhere.

Jasper Newton Morris was born July 2, 1876 in Crab Orchard, Lee County, Virginia. His parents were Marion Frances Morris and Martha Witt. He married Bessie Louisa Dobbs (1890-1976) December 15, 1905 in Marion County, Arkansas. They had eleven children. Descendants ancestors, and relatives lived in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.

John Stephenson was born ca. 1785 in North Carolina. He lived in Tennessee in th year 1821 and settled in Alabama ca. 1850. John married sometime prior to the year 1825 and was the father of two sons. His first son was named John Elliott Stephenson who married Louisa Catherine Files. They lived in Alabama.
