Charles Russell Dodson was born 1 September 1907 in Washington, D.C. He was the son of Gilbert Russell Dodson and Martha Gatewood Shackleford. He married Mary Bell Beckett on 22 August 1942 in Whittier, California. She was born 20 September 1915 in Berkeley, California. She was the daughter of Harry Wilson Beckett and Isabell McMillan. Dora Matilda Martin (1878-1980) was born in South Carolina to Addison and Rhoda Cornelia Elgin Martin. In 1897 Dora married James Fletcher Dodson (1875-1937) and they were the parents of five children. The Dodsons lived their entire life in South Carolina. After her husband's sudden death, Dora continued to live on the family farm until shortly before her death at age 101. Descendants live in South Carolina and other parts of the United States.
