Andrew Lewis Speakman was born 2 June 1850 near Leo, Jackson County, Ohio to James and Malinda Rutherford Speakman. He married Emma Speakman (not related) ca. 1872. She died soon after the birth of her son, William Thurman who was born 23 Nov 1874. He married Clarinda Gatten (1858-1949) in 1875.
