Description
Matthias Lehrer (1714-1787) immigrated in 1738 from the Palatinate of Germany to Philadelphia, and in 1744 married Catharine Margaretha Moyer, a fellow passenger. After 1750 they moved to Rockingham County, Virginia, and it was after Matthias died that his widow began to spell the surname as Lair. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Texas and elsewhere.

Abraham Shearer (179-1877) married Elizabeth L. Burk, and lived in New York, Vermont, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania before moving to join their children in California between 1860 and 1870. They had seven children (5 boys and 2 girls), and one of the girls died young in Pennsylvania. The remaining children moved to California in 1859 and thereafter. Descendants and relatives also lived in Idaho and Nevada as well as California.

Description
Thomas Dawe (1817-1893), son of Owen Dawe and Mary Cunningham, was born in County Louth, Ireland. He married Mary Cunningham (1822-1898), daughter of Lawrence Cunningham and Bridget Rice, in 1844. They emigrated in 1848 and settled in Massachusetts.
