Donald Earl Doty was born in South Dakota in 1919. He married twice to Margaret Merle Maher and Joan Frommelt Pierce. He had five children. They live in California and Utah. Information on his and Margaret's ancestors as well as their descendants is included in this collection. His ancestors gradually moved from the colonies west while Margaret's came from Sweden during the middle of the nineteenth century. Relatives live throughout the United States.

Description
Biography of James Duane Doty (1799-1865), who was born in New York, was a lawyer and judge in western Michigan, and in Wisconsin where he was also Governor. He served as Superintendent of Indian Affairs in the territory of Utah, and in 1863 was appointed Governor of that territory. He died in office and (at his dying request) was buried in Salt Lake City.

Harvey Doty (1818-1897) was born in Fairfield County, Ohio to Henry and Mary Line-Doty. He first married a Miss Yider. She died shortly after their marriage. He then married Sarah Fox (d. 1909) in 1850. She was a daughter of Jacob and Polly Flick Fox. Harvey Doty died on his farm near Litchfield, Michigan. They had six children: Jacob, Solomon, Andrew, Levi, Stephen, and Theresa. Descendants live in Michigan, Ohio and elsewhere.

Richard S. Doty was born in 1797 in Nine Partners, Dutchess County, New York and moved to Bastard Township, Leeds, Ontario. He married Margaret Roberts and in about 1836/1837 moved to Velleville, Jefferson County, New York. They had six children. They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. They later became members of the Reorganized Church of Latter day Saints. Edward Doughty (or Doty) was born ca. 1605 in England. He was a descendant of Charles Montague Daughty of Thorborton Hall, Suffolk Co., England. Edward immigrated to America aboard the Mayflower in 1620 and settled in Plymouth Colony. He married twice but the name of his first wife and first set of children are unknown. James Parker was born ca 1752 in Connecticut and it is not known who his ancestors were. Immigrants by the name of Parker were in America as early as 1633-34. James served during the Revolutionary War between 1776-1783. He married Ana Doty and they had their first child 20 November 1781. Edward Doty was probably born around 1599 in England. In 1620 he immigrated to America on the Mayflower as a servant of Stephen Hopkins. In 1621 he was involved in the only duel in the history of Plymouth Colony. Edward married Faith Clarke and they were the parents of nine children. Descendants live in Massachusetts and other parts of the United States.

William Lucullus Hornbuckle (1748-1824) and Sarah Jane Hardin were married in North Carolina in 1700 and settled at Fleming, Kentucky. They had thirteen children. He with a daughter and two son migrated to Calloway County, Missouri in 1821. Other children followed. Descendants listed lived in Missouri, Illinois and elsewhere.

William Oliphant (b. ca. 1775-1831) immigrated to Maryland from Scotland, was married to Lydia Cremean Thompson and died in Ohio. Tobias Rauch, Sr. (1793-1873) married (1) Eve and (2) Anna Mary Geiger in Germany and later the family immigrated to Iowa. John Carol Doty (1823-1890), a son of Capt. Simeon Doty (either a sailor or a soldier) married Caroline Frances Boughton Bushnell (1823-1891), and the family moved to Iowa from Massachusetts.

Levi Doty (died 1894) was born in Basking Ridge, New Jersey and was married to Mary Vandeventer and later Rebecca Jones (died 1892). He and Rebecca are both buried in Elkader, Iowa.
