Robert Drake and his family immigrated to America, ca. 1638, probably from Colcehster, Essex, England. He settled first at Exeter and then moved to Hampton, New Hampshire. He was the father of three children. He died at Hampton in 1668 at age 88. His son, Abraham (1620-after 1697), and his wife, Jane, had seven children.

Daniel Drake was born October 20, 1785 in Plainfield, Essex County, New Jersey. He was raised in Mason County, Kentucky and was apprenticed to Dr. William Goforth of Cincinnati in 1800. He married Harriet Sisson on Dec. 21, 1807 and died November 1, 1852.
