John Henry came to Missouri from Illinois in 1836. He settled in the south west corner of the state near Cave Springs. John Henry was the father of 14 children by four marriages. He and his family remained in the area to the present time. Information on many of their descendants is included in this volume.

Alexander Dyer (1790-1856) was born on the ocean when his parents, David and Sallie, emigrated from Ireland to Tennessee. He married Mary King.
