John James (ca. 1787-1834) was born in Ireland, perhaps Kilkenny. He and his wife, Martha Rathwell, immigrated to Canada in 1819 and settled in Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Canada. They had seven children, ca. 1814-1834. Descendants listed lived in Ontario, Alberta, Nova Sotia, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba, Texas, Arizona, and elsewhere.

Chiefly a record of some descendants and family members of Simon Ruffcorn and Mary. He was born ca. 1749 and lived in New Britain, Pennsylvania. He married Mary before 25 Feb 1778. Mary died May 1814 in Tyrone Township, Pennsylvania. Simon died 13 Feb 1841 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of seven known children. Carolyn Jane Greer was born 27 May 1922 in Pella, Iowa. Her parents were Thomas Nathaniel Greer (1896-1975) and Sarah Clementine Hampton (1896-1962). She married Howard E. Beal (b. 1917) 2 June 1940 in Nevada, Iowa. Carolyn died 1998. Ancestors of Carolyn and Howard have lived mainly in Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.

He married Dorothy McNeely (1777-1843), daughter of William McNeely and Rebecca Barnett, 7 February 1793 in Montgomery County, Virginia. They had seven children.
