Hugh Auchincloss Brown, son of Edward Stanton Brown (1829-1902) and Annie Elizabeth Duvall (1844-1920), was born in Rutherford, New Jersey. He married Sarah Pirie Briggs (1879-1937), daughter of Theophilus Briggs and Mary Elizabeth Carson.

Thomas Powell (ca. 1640-ca. 1714) was born in England. His wife's name is unknown; they had two sons, the younger of whom died en route to America in 1682. His second wife's name was Anna. They also had two sons. They settled in Pennsylvania. Descendants live throughout the United States.

John Bales was born ca. 1640 in England. He immigrated to America ca. 1675 and settled in Salem, New Jersey. Later, he moved to Delaware County, Pennsylvania. His descendants moved westward through North Carolina and Tennessee prior to their settlement in Indiana. Alonzo L. Bales was a descendant of John Bales. Leontine Butler was born in 1823 in South Carolina. He moved to Saline County Arkansas in the 1850s. He married three times. His wives were Sarah Margaret Brownlee, Susan Rebecca Bradley Duvall and Cornelia Florida Owens Easterly. He had six children by each wife. He died in 1890. Descendants and relatives lived in Arkansas, South Carolina, Mississippi and elsewhere.

Carl Christian Heinrich Roloff (1827-1907) married Johanna Christine Maria Schulz in 1866, and about 1868 they immigrated from Germany to Cedarburg, Wisconsin. About 1869 they moved to Martin County, Minnesota. They had eight children, and descendants and relatives lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, California and elsewhere. John Littleton Bradley (1840-1884) was the first son of Littleton Porter Bradley I and Julia Annie Henderson and grandson of John Bradley. He served in the Civil War, married Sarah Elizabeth Ross in 1867, and moved from Illinois to land near Edgar, Nebraska. Rev. John Rowan (1543-1605) lived in Scotland. John Francis Rowan (b.1684), a direct descendant in the fifth generation, immigrated from Ireland to Maryland. Descendants lived in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and elsewhere.

These volumes chronicle the descendants of John Gorin who was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Alexandria on the 15th day of May, 1763. He married Elizabeth Duval on 26 May 1825 and died on the 10th day of May, 1837 in Barren County, Kentucky.
